Located in the prime Coal Harbour neighbourhood of downtown Vancouver, the high profile West Pender Place complex features a 44 storey West Tower with a seven storey parkade connected to two ten storey East Towers, making it one of the most prominent high rise residential/commercial construction projects of 2011 in Vancouver.

To meet the fire protection needs of this facility, the contractor, Secure Fire Protection, insisted upon the use of Victaulic FireLock® systems. Secure was confident in the proven track record of quality and trusted performance that Victaulic products deliver, having used them for over 10 years on other major projects. For West Pender Place, over 5000 couplings, 9000 sprinkler heads, 40 high pressure butterfly valves and seven devices were installed.

Being a high-rise facility, the West Pender Place system needed to effectively handle high pressures up to 350 psi/2517kPa. In the valve room, Victaulic FireLock NXT® Series 768 Dry devices with Vic®-Quick Risers were the preferred choice. Rated to 300 psi/2065 kPa, the highest in the industry, FireLock NXT® devices provided the the greatest level of comfort for use on this project. In addition, FireLock NXT® devices shipped ready to install with all trim pre-assembled and the unit preset for air pressure at 13 psi/.89 Bar.

Grant Hall, Owner of Secure Fire Protection, reflects on the project: "Victaulic was there every step of the way -- adding value and support throughout the process and giving me complete confidence. From a product perspective, this was the first time we used Victaulic FireLock NXT devices. I was very impressed with how easy it was to install and put these devices into operation. We have never had one false trip."

Edmonton Clinic North is a 570,000 sq.ft./53,000 sq.m. state-of-the-art academic teaching and administration facility for the University of Alberta.

Faced with the task of having the entire penthouse mechanical room operational in 7 months, the contractor, Lockerbie & Hole, turned to Victaulic for a total system solution that would maximize productivity. To ensure efficient piping layout and coordination, the Victaulic Construction Piping Services team designed a coordinated set of 3D models, isometric drawings and bill of materials. Using Victaulic Bag and Tag services, all products were ordered and delivered where and when needed.

To expedite installation of the piping systems, many sections of piping were prefabricated in the contractor's shop. Victaulic Quick-Vic® couplings, featuring patented installation-ready technology, maximized productivity by ensuring fast and easy pipe connections for systems up to 8"/200mm in size. Featuring a proprietary Grade "EHP" gasket rated to 250°F/121°C, these couplings provide unmatched performance on the hot water systems. To join 14"/350mm piping, Victaulic Advanced Groove System (AGS) couplings with only two housings enabled fast, easy connections that could be visually inspected for proper assembly. Victaulic pump components, Style 155 expansion joints, TA balancing valves and the 3-piece Victaulic Koil-Kit™ for rapid coil installation were additional solutions that addressed unique facility needs.

"Without the Victaulic design team on board, and the ease of installation of Victaulic products, we could not have achieved this nearly impossible feat on time. Victaulic produced hundreds of spool drawings for this project and we had zero rework on the piping systems," commented Bill Smith, Piping Superintendent, Lockerbie & Hole.

The Capital Plaza project, in the centre of Abu Dhabi, consists of a 250-room five-star hotel tower (the Millennium & Copthorne Hotel), with 32 floors and a height of 166m, a 25,000 square meters office building with 34 floors and a height of 200m, and 220 luxury apartments including 21 sky villas and six rooftop villa apartments located in three towers ranging from 173m to 210m in height. There are also retail facilities and five levels of basement and underground car parking.

Work on the Capital Plaza fire protection systems began in 2007 with the main contractor, the Arabian Construction Company, carrying out installations throughout the entire development and working closely with engineer Concorde Co. LLC. Concorde chose to install a complete range of fire protection products manufactured by Victaulic, including a full range of sprinklers, valves, wet and deluge valves, open spray nozzles, couplings and fittings. The project manager at Concorde chose Victaulic products because of the great reputation, product range and quality. Concorde has worked with Victaulic before and found their products help to reduce onsite problems. Concorde also relied on Victaulic for the most key products in the entire fire protection installation: the alarm valves. The reason why they chose Victaulic FireLock® devices is because of the straight-through body design, which provides superior flow and low-pressure drop. The devices also offer simple access to all internal parts for easy maintenance, which can be performed from the installed position. FP installation on this enormous project is now complete to NFPA standards. The hotel opened in August, 2011 and the residential towers are already being used.

One of the most technically impressive projects in the region, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi required a fire protection system that could match the prestige and challenge associated with its illustrious name. The world's largest indoor theme park, comprised of 86,000 m² of indoor space, features 20 rides and attractions, designed to bring to life the Ferrari story, and is home to the world's fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa. There are also six food and beverage outlets.

Firepro, who served as engineer and contractor, specified Victaulic fire protection products because of the high quality and reliability they provide. Installation began in February 2008 and was finished by mid 2010, the length of time gives an idea of the vast scope of work involved in the installation. Throughout the Ferrari World site, Firepro used Victaulic FireLock® elbows, tees and reducers, as well as Victaulic couplings. These included the lightweight Style 75 coupling, the FireLock Style 005 rigid coupling and the FireLock No. 001 90° Elbow and No. 002 Straight
Tee.

“Firepro installed Victaulic products in Ferrari World because the company offers a reliable system, helps to reduce risk on site and has a very positive influence on the life time of the system,” says Mohammed Safty, Firepro Senior Site Engineer. “We wanted the best quality products in such a high-profile project.”

Eighth Avenue Place, a 50-story tower located in Canada, has become a landmark in the skyline of Calgary. The newly constructed tower was awarded LEED Gold precertification, and provides over 1.8 million square feet of commercial office space for the city’s growing business community.

In order to conserve schedule time the contractor, Modern Niagara Alberta, who arranged for the pipe to be cut and grooved off-site, also chose to install Victaulic product to facilitate rapid installation of the heating, chilled and condenser water, glycol heating, sanitary lift stations, and domestic water systems.

Victaulic Quick-Vic® couplings, featuring patented installation-ready technology, maximized productivity by ensuring fast and easy pipe connections for systems up to 8"/200mm in size. Due to their proven performance and life expectancy, Vic-300 MasterSeal Butterfly Valves were utilized in each system installation, and larger diameter 14 - 18"/350 - 450mm piping, including riser systems, were fabricated and joined using Victaulic Advanced Groove System (AGS) couplings and fittings.

“Victaulic mechanical couplings decreased installation time tremendously," said Doug MacDonald, Construction Manager. "A standard 18-inch weld would have taken anywhere between three to four hours to complete while the installation of one mechanical coupling took about ten minutes. Overall, by using Victaulic products, building Eighth Avenue Place required significantly less labor that would have been used if we had welded the piping systems".

Eighth Avenue Place is also one of the first buildings in Canada to utilize the Victaulic supplied TA Differential Pressure Controller. By eliminating pressure fluctuations, the TA Differential Pressure Controller enables the balancing valve to maintain the proper flow rate at the coil and keep the system balanced.

ZeaChem will be one of the first cellulosic demonstration plants built in the United States. The plant will produce Ethanol, glacial acetic acid, and commercial grade ethyl acetate from poplar trees. ZeaChem will produce products from organic materials that will be a direct replacement for similar petroleum based products for refining, consumer products, paint and chemical industries.

Prior to construction ZeaChem began looking for the most economical means to complete the project. They looked to Victaulic to provide a stainless steel piping solution for multiple water and fluid lines that could keep costs low and allow the project to stay on budget. ZeaChem became the first facility in North America to utilize Victaulic Vic-Press® Schedule 10S, a flame-free press system that installs in seconds. The use of the Vic-Press® system reduced risk on the project while diminishing both labor and total installation costs.

Victaulic will showcase its patented installation-ready product line and Advanced Groove System (AGS) product line at the ACREX trade fair, Hall 3A stand M106, at BIEC, Bangalore. Both product lines give contractors, engineers and owners an unmatched competitive edge, cutting piping system installation time and making installations safer.

Installation-ready technology is designed to address the industry’s need to compress project schedules and remain competitive. It is the fastest and safest pipe-joining method currently available. The installation-ready coupling installs up to ten times faster than other pipe-joining methods such as welding, brazing, soldering or flanging.

The Victaulic patented Advanced Groove System (AGS) is the strongest and most dependable mechanical piping joining system for 350-1525mm size piping systems. With a two-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove that delivers pressure ratings up to 2,400 kPa, Victaulic AGS couplings offer exceptional assembly speed and reliability.

In addition to simplified and faster installation, Victaulic couplings, fittings and valves are lighter in weight yet with higher integral strength and require less space than traditional products, minimizing the plant room footprint while maximizing HVAC system performance.

Visitors stopping by the Victaulic stand M106 in Hall 3A can see a pump set-up with Victaulic products installed which demonstrates these benefits.

The Victaulic grooved system works equally well with a variety of piping materials, including carbon and stainless steel, and with a wide range of pipe sizes. This makes it the ideal choice to compress schedules in the HVAC industry where it offers the combined advantages of design versatility, highly reliable operation, and fast installation.

Victaulic will showcase its patented installation-ready product line and Advanced Groove System (AGS) product line at the Utrecht VSK 2012 trade fair, Hall 04 stand D022. Both product lines give contractors, engineers and owners an unmatched competitive edge, cutting installation time and making projects safer.

Installation-ready technology is designed to address the industry’s need to compress project schedules and remain competitive. It is the fastest and safest pipe-joining method currently available. The installation-ready coupling installs up to ten times faster than other
pipe-joining methods such as welding, brazing, soldering or flanging.

Installation-ready couplings require fewer steps to install, resulting in consistently faster pipe joints, which allows contractors to optimize crew size and better manage their labour risk.

Also on display will be the Victaulic patented Advanced Groove System (AGS), the strongest and most dependable mechanical piping joining system for DN 350-DN 1525mm size piping systems. With a two-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove that delivers pressure ratings up to 2,400 kPa, Victaulic AGS couplings offer exceptional assembly speed and reliability.

Victaulic is the only manufacturer to offer a two-piece housing for couplings in this size range. Large-diameter joints that require several hours to weld can be installed easily in a fraction of the time using AGS couplings.

In addition to simplified and faster installation, Victaulic couplings, fittings and valves offer further advantages. Lighter in weight yet with higher integral strength, they require less space than traditional products, minimizing the plant room footprint while maximizing HVAC system performance. The use of flexible couplings around equipment (such as pumps and chillers) also provides noise and vibration attenuation for the life of the system. They eliminate rubber bellows which are costly to install and will need replacing at ten-year intervals on average.

Visitors stopping by the Victaulic stand D022 in Hall 04 can see a pump set-up with Victaulic products installed which demonstrates these benefits. They will also benefit from on-site roll-grooving demonstrations utilizing Victaulic roll-grooving tools.

Download a PDF of this release in English.

EASTON, PA (Jan. 22, 2009) – With the 2010 Winter Olympics coming up mid-February in Vancouver, the city is the center of attention—as are the facilities that were built specifically for the Olympics. The Vancouver Convention Centre, the Richmond Olympic Oval and the Vancouver Olympic Village were all built using Victaulic grooved piping systems, helping to expedite the building process while making the installation and future maintenance of the piping systems more “green.” Victaulic has been used on the construction of Olympic facilities since 1976, and is installed on over 20 Olympic facilities to date.

The expansion of the pre-existing Vancouver Convention Centre, which will serve as the main international media centre for the games and provide workspace for some 7,000 accredited broadcasters and technicians, is a truly innovative HVAC project. The centre was built so that two-thirds of the structure extends over the water into the harbor, allowing the HVAC system to actually use the ocean as a cooling tower. The system runs the harbor’s seawater through plate & frame heat exchangers, rejecting and extracting heat from the chiller plant to regulate the temperature of the centre year-round. Victaulic couplings, valves, fittings and pump dressings, including the Advanced Groove System (AGS), were used on this and all applicable systems. Other sustainable elements of the LEED Gold building include a “living roof,” on-site water treatment and a fish habitat built into the foundation.

Mechanical contractor Fred Welsh Ltd. chose to use 3D Modeling and Victaulic grooved piping systems to understand the complexity of the steel structure and how to design the piping system to accommodate a wide variety of loads and seismic movement. The Victaulic Company’s individual commitment to environmental responsibility compliments the building design. All Victaulic products are made from natural and recycled resources, and they eliminate waste, emissions and noise during construction and installation. In addition, the use of Victaulic joining methods reduced the impact of CO2 into the atmosphere immensely compared to welding. Unlike welding, grooved pipe joining does not require open flame, and does not contribute fumes or emissions of any kind to the jobsite or atmosphere during installation or maintenance. These factors made Victaulic the optimal choice for a building striving toward such high sustainable goals.

The LEED Silver Richmond Olympic Oval, which will feature the speed skating events, faced an extremely tight schedule and challenging confined spaces for workers during installation. The use of Victaulic couplings, valves and fittings on the HVAC and domestic water applications made systems easier and safer to install, and three to four times faster than welded or flanged systems, which meant it was completed in time for athletes to train.

The Vancouver Olympic Village is LEED Gold certified, and has transformed a former industrial brownfield site into a model for sustainable living. With 1,100 units, this village of 18 buildings will house the more than 2800 athletes competing in the Winter games, and upon completion of the games they will be offered as community living to more than 16,000 residents. In addition to speeding up construction, the use of Victaulic ensures quick and easy maintenance on the buildings in years to come.

Victaulic has been a part of Olympic construction since the 1976 Winter Olympic Games in Montreal, Quebec, where products were used in the construction of three new facilities. Since then, Victaulic has been sought out for its innovative, efficient and reliable grooved products for HVAC and fire protection systems as well as other applications, and has been used in over 20 Olympic facilities to date.

Notably, the recent 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, used Victaulic pipe joining on their HVAC system in the main “Bird’s Nest” stadium because of the deflection and seismic capabilities of the system. During the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Victaulic was used in order to expedite construction of six new facilities, including the main stadium and the aquatic center.

Olympic Games using Victaulic on construction include:
• 1976 – Montreal, Quebec, Canada
• 1988 – Calgary, Canada
• 1996 – Atlanta, Georgia, USA
• 2000 – Sydney, Australia
• 2002 – Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
• 2004 – Athens, Greece
• 2006 – Torino (Turin), Italy
• 2008 – Beijing, China
• 2010 – Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Victaulic is exhibiting its line of products approved for the shipbuilding industry at the Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology International Trade Fair (SMM) in Hamburg.

Attendees can discover how to achieve space and weight savings, while simplifying the installation of piping systems. On show will be a selection of rigid and flexible couplings, fittings, valves and accessories for a variety of shipboard applications.

The Victaulic booth will also feature a display comparing a grooved valve assembly to a flanged valve assembly, showing that the use of couplings in conjunction with a grooved piping system can reduce weight by as much as 30 percent. In addition, couplings reduce the amount of time needed for piping system installation, as well as the amount of space needed for assembly, which allows for easier access and maintenance. Couplings also offer a flame-free installation, improving safety aboard ships and at shipyards, and reduce piping vibration and noise.

The Victaulic pipe-joining system involves cold forming or machining a groove into the end of a pipe. Pipe sections are then connected by a coupling, which houses a resilient, pressure-responsive elastomer gasket that creates a leak-tight seal. The bolts and nuts are tightened, securing the coupling housings together, and the key sections of the coupling engage the groove on each pipe-end, creating a strong, reliable joint.

The Victaulic pipe-joining method has stood the test of time in some of the world’s most demanding construction projects and in the harshest environments. We are looking forward to demonstrating at Kormarine how Victaulic can make a difference in shipbuilding projects, whether new construction, retrofit or repair.

While welding is described as a proves of melting and fusing pipe together, flanging uses a series of nuts and bolts to compress a gasket between two flanged pipe ends. Threading entails cutting cone-shaped channels into the pipe, applying thread sealant and then twisting the pipe into the threaded fitting. Grooving pipe consists of joining pipe with the ease of a coupling.

Easton, PA – Victaulic, the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe joining systems, introduces the Series 726D Super Duplex Stainless Steel Vic-Ball Valve. With the ability to withstand pressures of up to 1,200 psi (8200 kPa), the Series 726D is ideal for high pressure applications in corrosive environments, such as reverse osmosis and desalination piping systems.

The Series 726D is a grooved-end, high-pressure, full-port ball valve that provides faster, easier and safer installation than flanged or butt-weld valves. The valve is connected with the Victaulic Style 489DX rigid coupling, which requires only two bolts to form a secure joint, making field assembly extremely fast. With a smaller profile than a flanged valve assembly, the Series 726D achieves significant space savings, allowing it to be installed with ease in tight spaces.

The Series 726D valve offers excellent flow characteristics and uses less energy than more restrictive types of valves. The two-piece, end-entry design features a floating ball for lower torque requirements.

A unique patent-pending composite seat design provides bubble-tight sealing ability for high- and low-pressure requirements. A stem seal cartridge enables easy stem seal replacement.

The valve features an ISO 5211 standard mounting pattern for convenient mounting of remote actuation, including a full range of power actuators.

The Series 726D is available in 2-6 inches (60-150 mm) sizes.

Easton, PA – Victaulic, the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe joining systems, announces the launch of the StrengThin™ Piping System, which features a proprietary groove profile for unmatched high-pressure performance on thin-wall Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel pipe. The StrengThin Piping System enables direct pipe-end forming of the new groove profile on Schedule 10S and Schedule 20 Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel pipe up to 16 inches in diameter, and delivers superior performance over previously required thicker wall Schedule 40S cut-grooved pipe. The StrengThin system can significantly cut piping installation time for an entire high-pressure piping system, lower costs, improve safety and reduce project risk during the construction of desalination facilities.

The StrengThin groove is formed using proprietary end-forming technology, which creates a unique groove profile for superior joint strength. The groove and sealing surfaces are “lifted” above the interior diameter (ID) of the pipe. StrengThin technology helps reduce plant construction costs by allowing thinner-wall Duplex or Super Duplex stainless steel pipe to be used on high-pressure piping systems. It also saves time by accelerating pipe fabrication and installation, thereby reducing the piping construction schedule and allowing more time for testing, commissioning and plant turnover.

The Victaulic StrengThin Piping System includes a full range of couplings, fittings, valves and a pipe preparation tool. StrengThin couplings are available as rigid or flexible, and all StrengThin couplings feature the Victaulic proprietary anti-biofouling Grade “EW” gasket. The Grade “EW” gasket is designed using a Victaulic-engineered compound that does not contribute to microbiological growth.

Through an exclusive relationship between Victaulic and MTS, the StrengThin system also features Super Duplex high-pressure plug valves from MTS with StrengThin grooved ends for fast, easy field installation, eliminating the need for valves to be sent to a fabrication shop to be welded onto pipe spools.

The StrengThin Piping System includes a range of Super Duplex fittings, including elbows, tees, caps and reducers. The fittings are cast with StrengThin grooved ends, and enable quick, easy field installation. With a union at every joint, the StrengThin Piping System provides easy system access when needed.

The StrengThin system is offered in 2-16 inch (50-400 millimeter) sizes and is rated up to 1,200 psi (8,200 kPa) with a minimum safety factor of three to one.

The brand new Cowboys Stadium—home of the world famous Dallas Cowboys professional football team—features the latest in stadium technology and showcases the longest arch of steel in the United States. Due to the large crowds housed in the arena, as well as the “cannot fail” equipment such as the scoreboard and announcement system, a dependable, easily installed and easy to maintain fire protection system was required. Victaulic grooved mechanical joining solutions, sprinkler heads, devices and UL/FM valves were chosen for this project not only because of the dependability, but because of the cost savings inherent in the installation. Instead of using cut grooved schedule 40 carbon steel pipe, the use of Victaulic grooved products allowed the engineer to specify roll grooved schedule 10 carbon steel, saving approximately 50% in overall pipe materials. Additionally, the installation of the Style 75 flexible coupling accommodated for the gradual curve of the pipe run around the overall structure and eliminated the need for hundreds of additional fittings, saving both time and money. Finally, the pre-trimmed, ready-to-install Victaulic Quick riser valve configurations afforded addition time and cost savings. Nearly 70 distinct fire protection systems were required within the complex, ranging from sophisticated electronic detection preaction system to small diameter dry systems. The breadth of sizes and types of valve systems from Victaulic was key to the success of the design and installation. “The hands-on support from the Victaulic specialist, both at the project management level and on the jobsite, helped ensure dependable product availability and installation,” said Greg Lee of DFW Fire Protection, the contractor.

On May 31, 2011 Osisko Mining Corporation, a leader in exploration and mining in Quebec, inaugurated the Canadian Malartic gold mine, a large-scale open pit mine located in Malartic, Abitibi. Construction began in late 2009 and it is Osisko's first mine to go into production. Osisko estimates it will extract more than 9 million ounces of gold from now until 2027.

A major component of this new project was the need to reliably join large diameter piping systems up to 54"/1300mm. The Victaulic Advanced Groove System (AGS) was selected as the ideal application to meet the demanding requirements on this job for its strength and ease of installation. Victaulic AGS couplings, comprised of 2 housings, provided fast and easy installation while allowing for visual inspection of proper joint assembly. For process water and chemical applications, AGS couplings were installed directly on AGS roll grooved pipe. For demanding abrasive slurry systems, AGS Couplings were installed with Vic-Rings on rubber lined pipe allowing the ability to maintain full pipe wall thickness.

A wide variety of Victaulic products were also utilized in the plant for process air, water and chemical services. Of note, Victaulic valves were used on all applicable services to 24"/600mm along with QuickVic® installation-ready rigid and flexible couplings and TA balancing valves on smaller diameter piping lines under 10"/250mm. In addition, a full line of Victaulic FireLock® products comprised the fire protection system installed to protect the mill.

Victaulic, the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe-joining systems, will showcase its patented installation-ready product line and Advanced Groove System (AGS) product line at the international Pumps & Vales 2010 exhibition at Antwerp Expo. Both product lines give contractors, engineers and owners an unmatched competitive edge, cutting piping system installation time and making installations safer. Installation-ready technology is designed to address industry’s need to compress project schedules and remain competitive. It is the fastest and safest pipe-joining method currently available. The installation-ready coupling installs up to ten times faster than other pipe-joining methods such as welding, brazing, soldering or flanging. Installation-ready couplings require fewer steps to install, resulting in consistently faster pipe joints, which allows contractors to optimize crew size and better manage their labour risk. In addition to simplified and faster installation, Victaulic valves, couplings and fittings offer further advantages, which make them ideal for the efficient installation of heat transfer circulation pumps in modern industrial facilities. Lighter in weight yet with higher integral strength, they require less space than traditional products, minimizing the plant room footprint while maximizing pump performance. The use of flexible couplings around pumps also provides noise and vibration attenuation for the life of the system. They eliminate rubber bellows which are costly to install and will need replacing at ten-year intervals on average. Visitors stopping by the Victaulic stand 1680 can see a large pump set-up with Victaulic products installed which demonstrates these benefits. They will also witness on-site roll-grooving demonstrations utilizing Victaulic roll-grooving tools to prepare pipework for joining. Also on display will be the Victaulic patented Advanced Groove System (AGS), the strongest and most dependable mechanical pipe-joining system for 350-1525mm (14-60”) size piping systems.

Victaulic, the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe-joining systems, has a new tool available to prepare pipe for efficient and reliable flame-free joining. The VE460 shop fabrication roll grooving tool is designed for use with pipes from 100–1500 mm/4-60” in diameter, depending on pipe material. It is suitable for preparing pipes to be joined with Original Groove System (OGS) couplings for 100–300 mm/4–12” sizes or the Advanced Groove System (AGS) ranging from 350–1500mm/14–60” Available for purchase or for hire, the fully-motorised, semi-automatic tool is equipped with a heavy duty 5 HP, three-phase motor wired for 400 volts and can be rewired for 230 volts. It comes complete with safety guards and safety foot switch and is supplied with rolls for OGS from 100-300mm/4-12" and for AGS from 350-600mm/14-24". All rolls are enhanced tracking rolls (ETR) to prevent pipe ‘walk-off’ and make grooving short pipe lengths easier. Three optional kits provide rolls for grooving 650-900 mm/26-36”, 1000-1200 mm/40-48” and 1250-1500 mm/50-60”, along with the pipe stands, railing, platform kit and support bases required for each pipe size range. Suitable for continuous shop fabrication grooving, the VE460 has been designed with speed and ease of operation and maintenance in mind: no set screws in the upper roll and no key in the lower roll allow for quicker, easier roll set changes. Having integral bearings within the upper roll not only makes the tool easy to clean and inspect but also extends the life of the bearings. “The new VE460 grooving tool enables more of our customers to reap the benefits of our Style W07 and W77 AGS couplings now that the range has been extended to include sizes from 650-1500mm/26-60”,” says Mark Gilbert, Vice President and General Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. ”It has been specifically designed for the wedge-shaped AGS grooves that deliver high pressure ratings, and can roll a groove on standard wall, large diameter pipe in five to seven minutes. That means that installers can prepare pipe and install couplings in a fraction of the time it takes to weld.” For information on the Victaulic product range or stockists, call the Victaulic European Headquarters on +32 93 81 15 00 or visit www.victaulic.com About Victaulic Founded in 1925, Victaulic is the world's leading producer of mechanical pipe joining systems.

Victaulic is showcasing its latest technology at POWER-GEN India & Central Asia 2012, Stand 1003.

Victaulic products are ideally suited to the power industry – for applications including chemical feed lines, waste water systems, compressed air, fire protection and cooling water - and offer many unique safety features and compressed schedule advantages. Among the innovative highlights on show at the Victaulic stand will be the:

• Advanced Grooved System (AGS) featuring a patented two-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove that delivers pressure ratings up to 350 psi/2400 kPa and unprecedented assembly speed and reliability.

• 152A Expansion joint coupling (10-30" / 250-760mm) suitable for pulverized coal and limestone with 4 degrees of deflection capability, along with expansion and contraction. The ease and speed of maintenance of the Style 152A leads to less downtime and increased productivity during costly scheduled plant outages.

• Vic 300 MasterSeal Butterfly Valve with its strikingly innovative design of a unique offset disc and two-piece stem. The disc design increases flow and reduces operating torque up to 35%, and provides a 360º bubble-tight seal at fully rated pressure, 300 PSI, in either direction.

• Victaulic Style 220 / Style 221 nozzle couplings which provide a mechanical joint for spray nozzles in either alloy or FRP respectively, for use on scrubbers. Lightweight, single-bolt assembly makes installation easier and faster than traditional flanged connections, eliminates over-tightening and "cracking" of nozzles, and permits full 360° nozzle orientation.

• Victaulic Vic-Press™ Sch. 10S system for Type 304 and 316 stainless steel pipe provides a fast, easy, clean and reliable means for joining ½-2"/15-50mm standard ASTM A-312 schedule 10S stainless steel pipe.

Also on display will be the revolutionary Victaulic installation ready range of flexible and rigid couplings that are up to 10 times faster to install than other joining methods and are available in sizes from 2-8”/50-200 mm. Standard grooved couplings install 5 times faster than welded joints and 3 times faster than flanged. The latest Victaulic installation-ready couplings on show - the new Style 177 QuickVic flexible coupling, and Style 107H QuickVic and FireLockEZ® Style 009H rigid couplings - install in less than half that time.

And because seeing really is believing, Victaulic will be offering hands-on assembly experience to demonstrate just how simple it is to put together its couplings.
